The programme is best suited for executive students with a BSc in auditing who would like to obtain an MSc degree to become a licensed auditor. A BSc degree is a minimum requirement to enter the programme. The target audience for this programme includes:

  • Candidates with a BSc degree interested in an executive MSc degree in International Accountancy.
  • Candidates with a BSc degree interested in an executive MSc degree in International Accountancy and in obtaining an auditing license in The Netherlands.
  • Candidates with a BSc degree interested in an executive MSc degree in International Accountancy and in obtaining an auditing license in the Netherlands, followed by an auditing license in the UK or the US.

To be eligible for admission to the MScIA, candidates need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • Provide proof of a 3-year BSc degree or a 4-year professional Bachelor’s degree;
  • Provide proof of having taken undergraduate courses in the areas of Audit & Assurance, Financial Accounting, Bookkeeping, Internal & Accounting Information Systems, and Managerial Accounting or Cost Accounting;
  • Submit detailed course descriptions from all Bachelor (and Master) courses;
  • Applicants who also wish to obtain a Dutch accountancy license upon completion of this Master’s programme must have obtained a minimum number of ECTS credits in certain subject areas in accordance with the requirements of the Dutch supervisory body for accountancy education CEA. Candidates should indicate this on the application form. The Board of Admissions will then advise the applicant of any deficiency courses before the start of the MScIA and on the courses that need to be taken in a post-master’s programme after completion of this MScIA;
  • Provide proof of a sufficient level of English by having obtained:
  • a minimum score of 88 on a TOEFL Internet Based language test (TOEFL IBT); or
  • a minimum score of 570 on a TOEFL Paper Based language test (TOEFL PBT); or
  • a minimum score of 6,5 on the academic and overall IELTS language test, with no section below 5,5; or
  • a minimum score of 720 on the TOEIC language test, with a pass for both the “Speaking and Writing” and “Listening and Reading” sections; or
  • a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge CPE English Proficiency Test; or
  • a minimum grade of B on the Cambridge CAE English Advanced Test.

Applicants who have completed their Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees in English, or applicants from Anglosphere countries where the official language is English, may be exempted from this requirement at the discretion of the MScIA Board of Admissions. A statement from the previous university that the degree was in English will be required. At the discretion of the MScIA Board of Admissions, a satisfactory result from one of the accepted English tests might still be requested before a decision for admission is taken.

  • Submit a recent Curriculum Vitae (CV);
    Audit experience – applicants should have an international orientation within auditing by demonstrating that they work for an international audit firm, serve international audit clients or work in an international environment.
  • Submit the completed MScIA application form.

If the Board of Admissions requires additional information about the applicant’s prior education, language skills, and/or international orientation, an interview with a member of the MScIA Board of Admissions is part of the admissions process. Students are selected based on their previous education, (language) skills, and international orientation within auditing.

Applicants who also wish to obtain a Dutch accountancy license upon completing this Master’s programme will be informed of any missing courses before starting the MScIA and of the courses that they will need to take in a post-master’s programme after completing this MScIA.
